just watched the film last night and thought it was a quite decent and delightful film to watch. Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci have both given a great and believable performance which was rather no suprise at all since they both are already quite good actors. I have always had a thing for Stanley Tucci since his appearance in The Devil Wears Prada and then in Julie and Julia as Julia Charles' husband and so on. it seems that he is always able to esaily deliver a needed performance for his character regardless if it is a zombie, a gay clothing designer or just simply a dying gay writer. guess that is what a true actor should be capable of doing.

in Supernova, Tucci and Firth have both together carried out a rather sad yet peacefully told narrative of a gay couple on their trip back to the roots of Firth's character in the UK in order to get together with their friends, family and face the truth that Tucci's character is not able to recover from his illness and the situation is only going to become worse in the near future. the story is rather heavy, but the film itself didnt focus on trying hard to provok its audience this way, instead it just told the whole story through the two main characters in a quite truthful and realistic way like possibly everyone else in such situation would be doing the same - pretending that everything is fine, that everyting is going to be fine, trying to look fine with making jokes, poking each other around, but that heavy cloud up above has never been cleared, and everyone knows that no one is able to prevent the unfortunate from happening. but that is also why i appreciate this film, for being so.

it is a sad story told in this film, but it was not told in a quite difficult way and for those that have had such similiar life experience, it possibly is quite easy to make them recall all the good, bads together with their beloved during the whole process of the final part of their life journey.
