剧情介绍

本片介绍了怀恩肯迪将军坎坷但荣耀的一生，即使在残酷的战争中他也从没放弃过尊严和绅士风度。南非战争回来的肯迪来到了德国，在那里他遇到了一个在当地做家庭教师的英国女孩亨特小姐，两人因为工作的关系走在了一起，并在人前出双入对，但有一天曾与肯迪因为亨特而决斗过的德国军官再次向他挑战，四十年后他们还谈及此事……残酷的战争扭曲了不少人的心灵，也创造了许多伟大的友谊，曾经是战场上的敌人、坐上宾、情场上的对手，最后还是忘年之交……Portrays in warm-hearted detail the life and loves of one extraordinary man. We meet the imposingly rotund General Clive Wynne-Candy, a blustering old duffer who seems the epitome of stuffy, outmoded values. Traveling backwards 40 years we see a different man altogether: the young and dashing officer "Sugar" Candy. Through a series of relationships with three women and his lifelong friendship with a German officer, we see Candy's life unfold and come to understand how difficult it is for him to adapt his sense of military honor to modern notions of "total war."
