Originally from the University of Queensland’s stage performance. Strange its low rating on IMDB and RTs. It‘s not extremely outstanding(adaptations all have these shortages: too compact on plot and still filled with huge amount of stage performance photographic style instead of true film’s. but still has its unique exploration of relationships. Solid cult film with only A$42K budget by a newcomer director.
From Paddington to Toowong, from the Story Bridge to Royal Exchange Hotel...all these came into the lens peacefully and naturally. As a Brisbane resident, it’s another form of déjà vu feeling... What if all MY friends leaving this place? Hmmm... Brisbane is not like Sydney, London or NYC these metropolitans attracting people leaving this city to move in... but definitely has its sunshine and nature to remind. Anthea finally left Australia though, but she will always remember her friends’ reckless and gorgeous lives and memories, either joy or pains, in Brisbane.
And so I will do.
