Computer visionary Alan Turing was feted for his brilliance in breaking the Enigma code, helping to save thousands of lives and arguably shortened the World War Two for at least 2 years.
Of course his conviction is known to all-sentenced to receive chemical castration on the grounds that he was homosexual. And this led to his suspected suicide in 1954 and has been a considerable controversy ever since.
His death, in my view, is not necessarily a suicidal case but was sentenced to death by unjustified jury. I mean, people at that age were not tolerable of gay partners as they took them as person with 'character defects'. You know, chemical castration made Turing become impotent and this actually went against human nature.
His particular death also reminds me of a common phenomenon in our society that parents always give a tight rein in their kids and stop them presently when they try to do anything, in parents' eyes, let's say, unpractical, and it absolutely subdues young generation's undaunted courage aspiring to embrace new stuff. To make things worse, some youngsters would even choose to suicide themselves once their ambition is badly beaten.
