The film builds up nicely, and Lino Ventura is great as ever. But the film-maker apparently couldn't decide on a proper genre, so the movie just wanders off into the vast landscape of mild entertainment and overall dissapointment, like so many B movies are wont to do.
I like the soundtrack very much; the mix of locale music and realite natural sound is wonderful from time to time. Even though it seems that the person in charge of that was fired halfway through, because the magic simply disappears once Lino got on the boat with the gangsters.
Not a must-seen movie. But there can be pleasure to be had.
